Your Time Can Change a Life This Spring: Giving comes in many forms.

Liz has survived things that should have killed her.
A truck landed on top of her when she was 30. She woke up ten days later on life support, her arm nearly severed, her lungs collapsed, every rib broken. That accident caused her to stop drinking, but she kept using drugs to numb the pain.
The scars on the outside only hint at what Liz carried within. Abuse and trauma marked her childhood. She was on her own by age 12, using drugs by 15, and deep into a life she never wanted by the time she became a mother of four.
“I didn’t know what I was going to do,” Liz says. “I really wanted to fix what was going on inside me. I really wanted to be a better person.”
Liz reached a breaking point. She was tired of the chaos, tired of running from the pain. She asked for help and found her way to Phoenix Rescue Mission.
A month after arriving, Liz lost her husband unexpectedly. The staff and women at the Mission surrounded her with love. She wanted to leave, but something held her here.
“I feel like God has a way with things,” Liz says. “I was meant to be here when that happened.”
Your generosity funded the Christ-centered program that carried Liz through her darkest season. Your support provided counseling, community, and daily worship that strengthened her faith.
Today, Liz is filled with gratitude for her new life of hope and freedom, and even talks to her children regularly for the first time in years.
Thank you for making her transformation possible.
“My life was chaos. Now it’s peace.”
— Liz

Terry was ready to give up.
Homeless and living in his car, he had dropped from 295 pounds to 170. His body was wasting away. He survived on whatever food he could find, hiding from the world, watching his life slip further out of reach with each passing day.
After 42 years of addiction that started when he was just 8 years old, Terry had nothing left. His mother had passed away. His belongings were gone. Hope felt impossible.
“I just said to heck with it,” Terry recalls. “I’m just going to lay here and give up.”
Then a friend from Arizona called and offered a lifeline. Come back to Phoenix. Let me help you.
A pastor Terry knew from childhood connected him with Phoenix Rescue Mission. On November 7th, 2023, Terry walked through the doors and encountered something he’d never experienced before.
“I never seen so much love,” he says. “Everybody’s like, ‘Hey, let me pray for you.’”
Your generosity funded the Christ-centered program that transformed Terry’s life. Today, he serves as a Case Manager for Street Outreach, helping others who are living the same desperate existence he escaped.
“If it wasn’t for the donors, who knows what would happen with us?” Terry says. “Some of us would be in jail, some homeless, and the rest dead. They saved a lot of lives.”
Thank you for being one of those life-savers.

Most of the people we serve at Phoenix Rescue Mission have tried to break free on their own. Once. Twice. A dozen times. They’ve white-knuckled their way through withdrawal, promised themselves “never again,” and meant it with everything they had.
Yet the chains held.
Here’s what I’ve witnessed in my years at the Mission: willpower alone cannot defeat addiction. Real freedom requires something greater. It requires the intervention of Christ, the support of community, and the prayers and generosity of people like you.
This Easter, as we celebrate the ultimate sacrifice that broke the chains of sin and death, I’m grateful for your partnership in breaking chains across the Valley.
Together, we are building futures.
God Bless,
Ken Brissa
Chief Executive Officer

Easter morning will look different at Phoenix Rescue Mission.
While families across the Valley gather around tables and celebrate the risen Savior, the men, women, and families in our residential programs will experience something many haven’t felt in years: belonging.
Your support makes this celebration possible. The people we serve will enjoy a special Easter meal together, sharing food and fellowship with others who understand their journey.
For children in our programs, Easter includes a treasured tradition called “Adopt a Stuffy.” Each child chooses a brand-new stuffed animal to keep as their own.
These moments matter more than you might realize. For someone rebuilding their life after addiction, trauma, or homelessness, a holiday celebration becomes a milestone of progress.
Easter reminds us that death gives way to life. That sacrifice brings redemption. That no one has lived so long in darkness that the light of restoration cannot reach them.
The same resurrection power that rolled away the stone is transforming lives at Phoenix Rescue Mission every day.
Because of your generosity, hope is alive here.
A legacy extends beyond possessions and property. It reflects your values, your priorities, and the causes that captured your heart during your lifetime.
Through planned giving, you can continue supporting transformation at Phoenix Rescue Mission long after you’ve gone to be with the Lord. Your earthly resources become heavenly investments, funding Christ-centered recovery programs, meals for hungry neighbors, and hope for men, women, and families across the Valley.
A legacy gift allows you to demonstrate your faith and generosity to future generations, direct resources toward the mission work you believe in, and create lasting impact that multiplies over time.
Options include gifts through your will or trust, beneficiary designations on retirement accounts, charitable gift annuities, and more.
Your legacy could help someone like Liz find freedom from addiction. It could give someone like Terry the community he prayed for his entire life.

This spring, consider sharing your time with neighbors across the Valley who need encouragement and support.
Hope for Hunger Food Bank: At our Glendale location, volunteers help provide food to over 250 families each day. You’ll unload donations, pack food boxes, and assist with drive-through distribution. This fast-paced environment delivers immediate, visible impact.
Meal Service: For a more relational experience, assist with food preparation and meal service at our Changing Lives Center and Transforming Lives Center. You’ll serve alongside the people we serve in our residential programs, building connections that encourage transformation.
Volunteer opportunities are available for ages 12 and older, making this a meaningful experience for individuals, families, and groups.
