Back to School Success

The Phoenix Rescue Mission  is distributing nearly 1,500 backpacks filled with school supplies to children across Maricopa County prepare for the upcoming school year. At their annual Back to School event held at Cesar Chavez High School, more than 600 children got to pick out a new backpack filled with all the required school supplies, uniforms, and books to help prepare them for the school year.

Just ask Bernadette Jackson, a stay-at-home mother of four, who says any assistance she can get is a blessing.

"It does come to help with all the children that I have, especially my three little ones that are starting to go to preschool with uniforms that can cost a lot," said Jackson. Between the backpacks, books and uniforms, it's a great way to ease the burden of getting back-to-school ready.

"We just want to be able to connect them with what they need, and hopefully through that just alleviate some of the stress they might be dealing with," said Jussane Carrera, the community connections coordinator for Phoenix Rescue Mission.

This annual event would not be possible without the support of our community. Because of you, nearly 1,500 backpacks will be given away by the Misison to organization across Maricopa county, helping children have everything they need to go back to school with confidence. Thank you.
